Is low inventory making it hard for you to find a house to buy in the New Jersey suburbs? Check out Short Hills, a popular commuter town located in Millburn, Essex County, where you’ll find more houses on the market compared to some other nearby areas.

The town is known to be ritzy and the median sales price of $1,600,000 reflects that. But you have plenty of options: There are currently 70 houses for sale including Colonials and split levels. And of course you will still get much more square footage (and outdoor space) for your money compared to New York City.

You might already be familiar with The Mall at Short Hills, where you’ll find retailers like Hermes, Louis Vuittion, Apple, Bloomingdales, and Pottery Barn. There’s also a quaint downtown where you’ll find dining spots like Boccone, Jack's Lobster Shack, and Enzzo’s. South Mountain Reservation, Essex County Turtle Back Zoo, and East Orange Golf Course are also nearby. And it’s just under an hour commute to NYC.

Sound like a fit? Check out these five houses for sale in the area including a four-bedroom center hall Colonial for $1,395,000.
